Mark Strandquist created “Fill the Walls With Hope” in response to the COVID-19 public health crisis. He posed the question “How could artists fill our public streets with images and words to support folks emotional/mental health, share resources, dream of a more just future and call out politics in this critical moment?”
This call-to-action for artists and organizations across the U.S. creates temporary art installations based on the environment that city dwellers experience during this pandemic. With businesses closed, empty schools, empty playgrounds, and empty streets we have been all witnessing the loss in our communities.
The “6 Feet of Heart” poster is my response to the project initiative. I wanted people to remember that they ARE Philadelphia – The City of Brotherly Love and City of Sisterly Love and we need to show that love when it comes to taking social distancing seriously. The poster was created to feel vibrant, inspiring and to possibly bring a smile to someone against the dark backdrop of COVID-19.
